C1 Advanced Speaking Part 1
Part 1
Duration: 2 minutes
The examiner asks you a question about your life. You reply to the examiner.
You don't have to talk to your partner in this part of the exam.
The questions in the first part are meant to help you warm up. They are easier questions, about you and things relevant to your life.
These questions are about you, your experiences, and your opinions.
You do not interact with the other candidate(s) at this time.
Common topics include:
Your hobbies
Your work or education
Things you like and things you don't like
Friends and family
Holidays
Sports
Future plans
Tips:
Your answers shouldn’t be too short. Never respond with “yes” or “no” without expanding on your answer. Similarly, responding with a simple sentence such as “I’m a student” is too short.
On the other hand, anything longer than 3 or 4 sentences is probably too much and you risk going off topic.
I recommend:
answer the question
give a reason (say why you said what you did)
give an example (if you have enough time)
Do not go off topic.
