Avoiding Errors with punctuation

Proper punctuation is a necessity in written English. It gives the reader an understanding of the meaning of the text and the idea revealed by an author. Proper punctuation is an important tool to make written text logical and readable, and you're marked on your ability to use it on exams. 

Learning how to properly punctuate in English may seem like a silly detail to focus on. You might even think it works the same as in your own language, right?

I actually notice a lot of punctuation errors when I'm correcting writing. Examiners will notice them to. To write correctly, you need to be able to punctuate effectively. This will help ensure that your work conveys the correct meaning and so that it's not misunderstood by the examiner.

Don't believe yet that punctuation is powerful? Look at this sentence, with and without its comma:

Let’s eat Bob. = You are going to eat Bob

Let’s eat, Bob. = You are going to eat with Bob
