Conversations are for students who've been studying English for a while and are looking to practice in a safe, non-judgmental space with some guidance and support.
Many students use conversations to practice speaking about things they've been studying on their own or with other teachers. They sometimes also use them to practice in addition to taking other English lessons with me.

When booking, you can suggest a topic, or I can choose one. I often use slides and other visuals as needed to guide these conversations. We can also read an article or watch a video and discuss it if you'd like.
Who are conversations for?
Conversations are for students who already have at least a B1 level in English (low-intermediate) and want to practice. We'll talk about subjects that are relevant and interesting to you so you can feel more confident when you're speaking English in the real world.
While I will be able to explain basic grammatical concepts to you or point out repeated errors during these sessions, the focus of the class will be on building fluency and practising. If you would like to specifically speak with more accuracy or build your vocabulary, it's best you book lessons instead.
After each lesson you will receive:
Notes that include corrections, suggestions and feedback about things you can improve on
Recordings of pronunciation, if requested and if you have Telegram
A link to review a recording of the lesson afterwards
Students who book multiple lessons (5 or 10) receive:
A Google Folder shared with me for all your notes

Students are also encouraged to join the closed Telegram groups for more opportunities to learn between classes.
Students with active packs of lessons (5 or 10 lessons) are also welcome to join me for private group sessions of conversation practice.
How to participate:
Lessons will happen on Zoom and I will share my screen.
For the best experience, please use a computer or tablet and be in a space without distractions and noise.
Frequently Asked Questions
How will I book?
When paying by PayPal - On Calendly, you can pay with PayPal. You'll select the number of lessons you want and then Calendly will let you book the a time for the very first lesson. Then, after each lesson, I will give you a new link to book your next lesson.
When paying by Stripe - Stipe payments are taken through the Stripe website. I will email you a link to book your first lesson once I receive confirmation of your payment.
Students can also schedule recurring lessons that happen on the same time and day after each week. In that case, I will create us a meeting room on Zoom and the link to join will never change.
How long are the links good for? Lately, it seems like links stay active 1 month after they are created. If you're link has expired, just email me or contact me on Telegram for a new one.
Why are your lessons only 50/25 minutes long? I schedule a short break between each class so I have time to organize the student's notes and update my own notes after each session. It also means lessons can go overtime if needed, or I can prepare for the following student. Believe me, you also would not want to do multiple back-to-back one hour lessons with no time to prepare between each class!
Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy
Bookings must be paid for in advance. Any cancellations/rescheduling must be done no later than 24 hours before the start time. Email axl@getspeakingenglish.com to change the time and date of your lesson. No refunds in the case of no-shows or late cancellations. Anyone who does not arrive within the first 15 minutes of a call will be considered a no-show and payment will not be refunded. No refunds on completed sessions. For packages of 10 sessions: sessions must be used within 6 months of the date of purchase. For packages of 5 sessions: sessions must be used within 3 months of the date of purchase. No refunds on expired lessons. All packages can be cancelled at any time. In the case of cancellation, the full amount (without discounts) will be charged for sessions used by the student.
